BEYOND DESIGN

THE PROCESS OF ARCHITECTURE

You begin with a vision. It is our job to help you reach your goals by providing professional services which respond to your needs. Our service is backed by past experience and industry knowledge as well as organization and planning skills. Ever conscious that we exist because of your business, it is our responsibility to serve your interests while educating you about the design and construction process.

Planning and programming/schematic design

Gathering information on your needs, budget, time line and vision and developing the general “big picture” idea.

Fund raising

Developing public awareness for a positive and up-front relationship with your community regarding your project. This could include attending public meetings or providing design sketches and information to the media.

Design development

As we start to understand the entire scope of your project, we begin to fine tune and develop our sketches into a realistic plan. A higher level of detail is explored which will bring the budget into focus.

Construction documents/bidding

Computer generated drawings for use in construction are developed. As the architect, we generate all sets of drawings and specifications and distribute them to bidders in order to seek a competitive price. We also oversee the bidding process and administer the contracts once a bid is awarded.

Construction administration

Once your project is under construction, we continually monitor the site conditions and progress. Regular site visits at this time are essential to ensure that work is proceeding as outlined in construction documents.

Post occupancy review

Upon construciton completion, we are still on hand as you settle into your new faclity. We revisit your initial goals to see that they were met and ensure that you are happy with the end results.

The design process involves many factors such as economics, functionality and personal relationships. A successful project is one in which each participant can take pride in the fact that the original vision has been realized.
