Bergland + Cram worked with a committee at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church to explore multiple schemes for adding gathering, circulation, and education space. After surveying and collaborating with various church user groups, several renderings and presentation plans were explored to be utilized in the Parish’s awareness and fundraising campaign. The addition is blended internally and provides new, more pronounced entries from the two natural points of circulation. A gradual incline of the gathering hall ceiling creates a megaphone effect that enhances acoustics, while three tall windows on parallel sides brings light into the back of the space, as well as the semi-private youth area. The addition of a skylight is also incorporated as representation of the constant guiding light of faith. A growing congregation can now enjoy a modern and spacious gathering hall which supports communal, multi-generational fellowship.
