In 2018, North Iowa Area Community College celebrated its 100th year and a new STEM Education Center was commissioned to mark the anniversary. The STEM building is an addition and remodel of the existing Science building, which sits prominently at the entrance to the campus.  Functionalities within include seven science labs, as well as collaboration space for the Math and Science faculty to work and interact with students.  A sandbox classroom will provide flexible teaching space for technology integration.  The overall building concept started with a trend line on the exterior of the existing building, from which point materiality changes, heights, and building elements are charted or graphed in order to measure their progression, thus relating back to the areas of study within the facility.
