Cath Lab Expansion, MercyOne North Iowa

MercyOne North Iowa is in the midst of expanding its existing Heart & Vascular Institute department. The project doubles the existing size of the suite, which is phased to allow for continued use during construction. The Patient Recovery Unit operates out of a temporary location as Phase II is underway to add flexible pre/post procedure rooms. When finished, the department will include a hybrid lab, two cath labs, and an EP lab with support space. A 3P Lean Design event addressed two major challenges for the project: redesigning supply flow and creatively fitting in four large labs among the existing column grid.
