What’s New With Us

Named a 2026 All-Star Community

by the Iowa League of Cities

Mason City was named a 2026 All-Star Community by the Iowa League of Cities for its River City Riverwalk and Waterfront District. This is the Iowa League of Cities most prestigious honor and we are proud to be part of the collaborative efforts to make this come to life!

Mason City has transformed a once-overgrown and underutilized stretch of Willow Creek into the River City Riverwalk and Bill Schickel Plaza, a vibrant public space that blends nature, art and architecture while supporting the continued revitalization of downtown. Opened in June 2025, the project has converted a dormant area into a welcoming destination where residents and visitors can walk, gather and experience the community's rich cultural and architectural heritage.

Winnner’s were awarded based on innovative efforts in areas such as urban renewal, development, preservation, collaborative efforts or quality of life improvements. Mason City was one of three of Iowa’s 940 cities to receive this recognition!

Day of Caring

with United Way

Last week we helped spruce up the parking lot at our local YMCA and repainted parking lines and filled potholes for the North Iowa United Way “Day of Caring” campaign. Fun fact: the YMCA building was designed by Bergland + Cram back in 1999!

Thanks to the team for taking time in their day to help, and to the rest of the volunteers around North Iowa!

Willow Creek Riverwalk Now Open!

A beautiful new addition to downtown Mason City is the newly opened Willow Creek Riverwalk. An outdoor park, playground, garden, and walking path amenity for North Iowa to bring people into downtown Mason City. Sculptures and lighting are just another unique layer of this space that is a must see during the day and after dark. Just a few steps outside our office door we are really enjoying this new space!

Out of office staff day

We had a fun staff day on June 27th in Minneapolis!
We learned about color psychology and experienced products and trends in office space design. We went to lunch - and per our usual competitive group - played games at Punch Bowl Social before heading home.

Thank you to Dustin, Bridget, and Emilie from iSpace Environments for hosting us, Megan from Studio TK, Heather from Greiner Construction, and Jackie from teknion for taking time to spend the day with us!

Wrapping up at Mason City Fire Department

Work is wrapping up at the Mason City Fire Department, and the new dorm and remodeled work spaces are being utilized. As finishing touches and landscaping are being completed, we're excited for the Fire Department staff to be able to use their new space and continue to effectively serve our community!
